Marsh's Bowling Absence: Australia's Allrounders Shine Ahead of Tests

Australia's allrounders have put their hands up for selection in the upcoming Test series against India, with Mitchell Marsh ruled out due to an ankle injury.

Marsh, who is Australia's first-choice allrounder, suffered the injury during the recent ODI series against India. He is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks, ruling him out of the first two Tests of the series.

In Marsh's absence, Australia have a number of allrounders who can step up and fill the void. Cameron Green is the most likely candidate to replace Marsh, having impressed with both bat and ball in recent months.

Green has scored two half-centuries and taken four wickets in his last three Test innings, and he is also a handy bowler with the red ball.

Other allrounders who could come into contention include Ashton Agar, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. Agar is a left-arm spinner who can also bat in the middle order, while Maxwell is a big-hitting batsman who can bowl off-spin.

Stoinis is a hard-hitting batsman who can also bowl medium-pace. He has not played Test cricket for Australia since 2016, but he has been in good form for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield this season.

Australia's allrounders will be key to their success in the upcoming Test series against India. The tourists will need to be able to bat deep and take 20 wickets to win, and their allrounders will play a vital role in both departments.

With Marsh ruled out, Australia will need their other allrounders to step up and fill the void. Green is the most likely candidate to replace Marsh, but Agar, Maxwell and Stoinis could also come into contention.

The Test series against India begins on December 17 in Adelaide. Australia will be looking to win the series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
