Alaska Airlines Grounded After Incident With Boeing 737 MAX-9
FAA Lifts Ground Stop Following Earlier Suspension
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has lifted a ground stop for all Alaska Airlines flights after grounding the planes earlier on Wednesday due to an issue with the system that calculates weight and balance. The affected aircraft was delivered to Alaska Airlines on October 31, 2022, and the issue led to a grounding of the airline's fleet of Boeing 737 MAX-9 planes.
Fuselage Section Blew Out of Aircraft
The FAA has temporarily grounded certain Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft after a section of an Alaska Airlines plane blew out of the aircraft during a flight on Friday, April 14. The Alaska Airlines aircraft involved in the incident had entered service just eight weeks earlier, and the fuselage that blew off covered a space that is typically occupied by passengers.
