Max Verstappen won the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix, his fifth win in the last six races. The Red Bull driver started from pole position and led every lap of the race, crossing the line 6.4 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz.

Race Highlights

The race started with a safety car period after a crash between Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly. The race resumed on lap 3, and Verstappen quickly established a lead over Sainz. The Dutchman pitted for new tires on lap 14, and Sainz followed suit a lap later.

Verstappen continued to lead the race after the pit stops, and he gradually increased his lead over Sainz. Sainz closed the gap slightly in the closing laps, but Verstappen was never in danger of losing the lead. Lewis Hamilton finished third for Mercedes, ahead of Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull.

The win was Verstappen's sixth of the season, and it extended his lead in the drivers' championship to 49 points. Sainz is now second in the standings, 32 points behind Verstappen.
