Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins Addresses Disappointing Season, Urges Patience and Optimism

Atkins Defends Schneider's Decision, Acknowledges Urgency

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins has expressed disappointment with the team's performance but remains cautiously optimistic about the future. Despite the team's recent struggles and early exit from the playoffs, Atkins believes there is reason for hope.

During a recent press conference, Atkins defended manager John Schneider's decision to pull Jose Berrios in Game 2 of the Wild Card series. He emphasized that Schneider made the move in the best interest of the team and that he has full confidence in his manager's leadership.

While acknowledging the team's sense of urgency, Atkins cautioned against overreacting to the current situation. He noted the team's strong performance at Triple-A and expressed confidence in the young players coming through the system. However, he also emphasized the need for the Blue Jays to make adjustments and improve their performance.

"We have a talented group of players, but we need to find a way to get better," Atkins said. "There is a heightened sense of urgency, but we also need to be patient and not make any rash decisions. We believe in this team and we are confident that we can turn things around."
