Hyman's Overtime Goal Evens Series

Oilers Defeat Kings 7-4 in Game 1

The Edmonton Oilers got off to a strong start in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, defeating the Los Angeles Kings 7-4 in Game 1 on Wednesday night. Zach Hyman scored the overtime winner for the Oilers, who now hold a 1-0 lead in the first-round series.

Hyman's goal came just over two minutes into overtime, as he took a pass from Connor McDavid and fired a shot past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. The goal was Hyman's second of the game, as he also scored in the first period.

The Oilers also got goals from Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Quick made 33 saves for the Kings, while Mike Smith made 27 saves for the Oilers.

The Oilers will now look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Kings in Game 2 on Friday night.
